We are pleased to announce the arrival of the first of hopefully a few new players who will be joining us for the new season.

Miles Sampson joins us from Havant RFC, where he played in their 2nd XV last season and will be a great addition to both our squad and the club.

Having played junior rugby at Havant until the age of 14, Miles then spent two years at Chichester before returning to Havant to become a member of their fantastic Academy squad. His ability as a finisher came to the fore with him scoring 35 tries in his two seasons at this age group.

During his junior years, Miles was also a member of the London Irish setup and represented Sussex at age group rugby.

Last season Miles made the step up to men’s rugby playing in Hampshire Premier with Havant 2s, the same league as Petersfield. Miles caught the eye of Petersfield Head Coach, Jason Ford and his assistant, Jim Pearce, in the games against us in finishing off two well worked tries and also in the game against Jersey 2’s at Hooks Lane that the Peef coaches went to watch on a rare Saturday off...!

Coach Jim Pearce says: ‘Miles joining us shows a statement of our intent for next season. Only 19 years old, he’s a big powerful winger at 6’3” and just over 100kg. Through our conversations he’s buying in to our ethos and is under no illusion that anything is guaranteed. He prepared to put his head down, graft and enjoy our style of play which he believes will suit his understanding and aid his development and further transition into the men’s game.’

Miles himself said: ‘After a good first year of men’s rugby, I felt I needed to progress and play 1st team rugby in a good setup. Petersfield gave me that opportunity. I can’t wait for this new chapter to start. I want to secure a first team spot, play week in week out and make a name for myself in London 3 and try and get us pushing towards the top of the table. Can’t wait to get going. Up the Rams!’
