In partnership with University of Portsmouth Women’s Rugby, the Women's Rugby Unleashed day will take place on Sunday, 4th May at Penns Place, as part of the 29th edition of the Petersfield Pub 7s. This exciting event aims to raise awareness of women’s rugby in the local area and provide a platform for players of all levels to showcase their skills, make new connections, and enjoy a day of rugby, food, and fun.

This marks the first time in over two decades that women’s rugby will be represented at the Pub 7s, and we are incredibly excited to host this event. As part of our ongoing commitment to growing the women’s game, the day will be dedicated to welcoming players from all backgrounds and abilities. Whether you're a seasoned player or someone who's never picked up a rugby ball before, this is a day for everyone.

Unleashed will feature a variety of activities designed to engage and inspire all women interested in rugby. Participants can look forward to skills sessions, touch rugby games, and the opportunity to play a full sevens match on Pitch One prior to the Pub 7s Cup Final. This event is an open invitation for female rugby players from across the South Downs to join the fun and meet other like-minded players in the area.

More than just a tournament, this event is about bringing people together to celebrate women’s rugby in the South Downs. We’re inviting local women’s rugby teams to join us and enjoy some friendly competition. The day will also offer the opportunity for new players to connect with existing teams and potentially find a home for their rugby journey.

Women's Rugby Unleashed is part of a broader initiative to establish a women’s rugby team at Petersfield RFC, with plans to launch the team this summer. With our ever-growing girls' section, we are committed to enhancing our player pathway so that Petersfield RFC players can continue their rugby journey in the red and green. We aim to participate in future Inner Warrior games and build a sustainable women’s programme for the 2025/26 season and beyond. This is a pivotal moment for our club and the community, and we are excited to see where this journey takes us.
