Both teams were keen to put their new skills of rucking, mauling and scrummaging to the test.
Both teams followed their usual festival game plan by losing the first matches against Haslemere (5-0 and 6-0 respectively). However, a few pointers from the coaches set both teams up for their second matches. Petersfield 'A' fared best in their game against Cranleigh, winning 6-2.
Meanwhile, Petersfield 'B' faced tough opposition in Bognor and lost 5-1 but the scoring of a try in a closely fought second half gave them a boost and they went on to draw their third match against Farnham 'B' 3-3.
Petersfield 'A' played next against Farnham’s 'A' team, winning 4-3 with some great team play. The team had no chance to build on this victory as their last match was cancelled due to their opponents, Midhurst ‘A’, suffering injuries.
Instead, the ‘A’-squad took to the sidelines to cheer on their teammates as they took on Midhurst 'B' in the final match. Despite some great tries and wonderful defence from Field, they were pipped at the post and lost 4-3.
Despite their mixed fortunes, the spirits of the U10s wasn't too low as they had a great day and showed some real improvement in their games, as teams and individuals.
As an added bonus the players met Harlequins player Charlie Matthews who had turned up to support the event and who was happy to pose for pictures with them.
